College Prep 101: The Parent Edition
April session is now open.  Limited to 5 families.

College Prep 101: The Parent Edition is a four-week workshop series designed specifically for parents of 9th and 10th grade students. The series demystifies the college preparation process giving parents the knowledge, vocabulary, and confidence to support their student's journey from high school to higher education.

The first three sessions are live group workshops on Zoom, bringing parents together to explore the foundations of college prep.
Dates: Tuesday, April 7th, April 14th, and April 21st, 2026 - all sessions are one hour from 7pm to 8pm PT.
The fourth session is a private, personalized one-hour Zoom conversation tailored to your family's unique student and situation [to be booked by the end of May, 2026]

Sessions will be recorded for viewing later and in the event you miss a class.

Session 1: Setting the Foundation: Busting Myths, Building Knowledge
An honest, engaging overview of what college preparation really looks like today versus when we went to college.

  • Myth-busting the most common misconceptions about grades, rigor, “getting in,” and “looking good.”
  • Building a realistic timeline: what to focus on and when
  • How to have productive college conversations with your student without the stress

Session 2: Beyond Tuition: Understanding the Real Cost of College
A realistic look at the cost of attendance: what families pay, what to consider when building a list
What We'll Cover:
  • Understanding Cost of Attendance (COA)
  • Merit aid vs. need-based aid: how each works and who qualifies
  • Institutional aid, grants, scholarships, and loans: knowing the difference
  • How to use Net Price Calculators to estimate your family's real out-of-pocket cost
  • The FAFSA and CSS profile

Session 3: College Admissions Decoded: The Terms That Matter
An insider's guide to the language of college admissions.  Feel confident navigating conversations with counselors, admissions staff, and your own teen.
What We'll Cover:
  • Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision: understanding the application timeline
  • Demonstrated interest: what it means and why it matters to admissions offices
  • Waitlist, deferral, yield, and more
  • The data points: grades, test scores, your school profile
  • The story: essays, supplementals, activities, letters of recommendation

Session 4: Your Student, Your Family, Your Plan
The fourth session is a private, one-on-one Zoom conversation scheduled individually during the final week of the series. This is your dedicated space — no agenda, no lecture, just a focused conversation about your student.
Come with your questions, your concerns, and your curiosity. Whether your student has a clear direction or hasn't given college a second thought yet, this session meets your family exactly where you are. Leave with clarity and a personalized sense of direction for your college admissions journey.

Workshop Investment: $499
Families who continue working with me with the full comprehensive college admissions package will receive a $500 credit.  Yes, you read that right.  A credit that makes the workshop an investment that pays for itself.
